After coming home from spending a week in Woolacombe, we’re already looking at booking our next holiday there!

Although Woolacombe has a huge award-winning beach, we found that the smaller beaches along the bay (Barricane Beach and Combesgate Beach) were much more interesting, and ideal for small children. With plenty of rock pools to explore and shells to find, they kept our toddler entertained for hours.

Also being in a small cove, these beaches felt much more safe and secure, as you can keep an eye on your children without them wandering off too far.

The sunsets along the Woolacombe coast are breathtaking, and not to be missed! A highlight of our holiday was taking fish and chips on the beach, and watching the sunset, cuddled up on a picnic blanket. Just remember to take a torch, as it gets very dark quickly, and there are lots of steps on the way back to the road!

There are a wide range of local independent shops, selling handmade crafts and tasty treats, as well as your usual seaside tourist shops and amusements, so something for everyone! Plenty of parking and free public toilets (ideal when you have young children), we had nothing to complain about! We’re already looking forward to our next adventure on the coast.
